MOTS-C Dosage Calculator: 10mg and 40mg Vials
MOTS-C Reconstitution Calculator
Work out the concentration of a reconstituted MOTS-C vial and convert amounts into millilitres and units on a U-100 syringe. The calculator is set to our MOTS-C 10mg vial; switch to 40mg or enter your own values.
Reconstituting MOTS-C
The MOTS-C 10mg vial with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water gives 5 mg per mL. The 40mg vial is four times as concentrated at the same volume, 20 mg per mL with 2 mL or about 13.3 mg per mL with 3 mL, so the same amount takes a quarter of the units. Choose the larger vial only if the reconstituted solution will be used within about 28 days at 2 to 8 °C.
MOTS-C reconstitution chart
Concentration for each vial size and water volume. On a U-100 insulin syringe, 10 units is 0.1 mL and 100 units is 1 mL.
| Vial | Bac water added | Concentration | Per 10 units (0.1 mL) | Per 1 unit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 mg | 1 mL | 10 mg/mL | 1 mg (1000 mcg) | 100 mcg |
| 10 mg | 2 mL | 5 mg/mL | 0.5 mg (500 mcg) | 50 mcg |
| 10 mg | 3 mL | 3.333 mg/mL | 0.333 mg (333.333 mcg) | 33.333 mcg |
| 40 mg | 1 mL | 40 mg/mL | 4 mg (4000 mcg) | 400 mcg |
| 40 mg | 2 mL | 20 mg/mL | 2 mg (2000 mcg) | 200 mcg |
| 40 mg | 3 mL | 13.333 mg/mL | 1.333 mg (1333.333 mcg) | 133.333 mcg |
The formula behind the calculator
concentration (mg/mL) = MOTS-C in vial (mg) ÷ water added (mL)
units on a U-100 syringe = amount (mg) ÷ concentration (mg/mL) × 100
Amounts in micrograms are divided by 1,000 first. The calculator does this arithmetic only; it does not recommend an amount, and MOTS-C from AminoBlend is supplied for laboratory research use only.
Buy MOTS-c Online in 10, 20 or 40mg
Use the worked examples to pick a fill, then order: the MOTS-c 10mg vial is $69 and the 40mg is $189, the better buy per milligram for long runs. Shop it online with bac water, and compare SS-31 if the study needs a mitochondrial membrane target instead. Labs looking for MOTS-c near me get the same Australian stock online.
MOTS-C Calculator Explained
What the MOTS-C Calculator Is Telling You
Concentration is the MOTS-C fill in milligrams over the bacteriostatic water added. The mcg per 0.1 mL value is that number times 100, a quick check of what ten graduations hold. Volume is your target divided by the concentration, and the units line multiplies that volume by 100 for a U-100 syringe.
A 1 mg MOTS-C Target Across the 10, 20 and 40mg Fills
- 10mg: 10, 5 or 3.333 mg/mL at 1, 2 or 3 mL; 1,000, 500 or about 333 mcg per 0.1 mL; 1 mg takes 0.1, 0.2 or 0.3 mL, which is 10, 20 or 30 units.
- 20mg: 20, 10 or 6.667 mg/mL; 2,000, 1,000 or about 667 mcg per 0.1 mL; 1 mg takes 0.05, 0.1 or 0.15 mL, or 5, 10 or 15 units.
- 40mg: 40, 20 or 13.333 mg/mL; 4,000, 2,000 or about 1,333 mcg per 0.1 mL; 1 mg takes 0.025, 0.05 or 0.075 mL, or 2.5, 5 or 7.5 units.
Matching Water Volume to the MOTS-C Vial Size
The 10mg vial reads comfortably at any of the three volumes, since a 1 mg aliquot spans 10 to 30 units. The 40mg vial is the awkward one: even at 3 mL a 1 mg aliquot is 7.5 units, and at 1 mL it falls between graduations at 2.5. For small amounts from the 40mg fill, use the full 3 mL or prepare a separate working dilution; the MOTS-C vial sizes differ only in fill, not in vial capacity.
Molar Values for MOTS-C at 2,174.6 g/mol
MOTS-C, the 16 residue mitochondrial-derived peptide, weighs about 2,174.6 g/mol. A 5 mg/mL stock from the 10mg vial in 2 mL is therefore about 2.3 mM, and one micromolar equals roughly 2.17 mcg per mL. Confirm the mass reported for your lot in the certificate library before converting cell culture concentrations.
MOTS-C Entry Errors Worth Catching
- Leaving the 10mg default in place while working from a 40mg vial, which makes every volume four times too large.
- Entering a 1 mg target as 1 mcg, so the calculator suggests a fraction of a unit.
- Recording 20 units of MOTS-C solution as 2 mL in the lab log; it is 0.2 mL.
- Entering the 3 mL capacity of the vial rather than the water actually added to it.
MOTS-C Calculator Questions
How much bac water for 10mg MOTS-C?
1 to 3 mL. 2 mL gives 5 mg per mL, so 10 units on a U-100 syringe holds 0.5 mg; 1 mL doubles the concentration and halves the volume.
How much bac water for 40mg MOTS-C?
Up to about 3 mL, the capacity of a standard vial, which gives about 13.3 mg per mL. At that strength each unit on a U-100 syringe holds about 0.13 mg.
How long does reconstituted MOTS-C keep?
Keep it at 2 to 8 °C and use it within about 28 days of mixing. Lyophilized MOTS-C keeps much longer frozen; see our peptide storage guide.
